Every home is different and stoves vary considerably in price, so costs vary depending on what’s involved.

As a very rough guide, the average installation cost for a two storey property with a chimney  comes in at around £5500 + 5% VAT, including materials and fitting. This might typically include a tiled hearth and wooden beam.

In a property without a chimney, the costs are generally higher.

In short – expect dust and soot and prepare for it!

Fireplace works can be dusty, dirty and occasionally noisy. Our installers use low-tack floor and carpet protection, dust sheets and masking to protect the immediate area of the fireplace, but soot and debris are inevitable.

We recommend you:

• Remove valuables, rugs, curtains or delicate furniture before work begins.
• Consider rolling back carpets.
• Expect some soot release, even from previously swept chimneys and especially when the new liner goes in.

We’ll do everything possible to minimise disruption, but please note we can’t be held liable for soot damage to furnishings.

Generally speaking, no planning permission is required if we’re installing a stove or flue liner into an existing chimney. However if you house doesn’t currently have a chimney and you need a rigid flue system installing on the front elevation of your property, it may require Planning Permission.

As HETAS registered installers we are approved to self certify work, meaning we can sign off works and confirm they comply with Building Regulations.

You can use the following calculation to get a very rough idea of what kilowatt output you’ll need to heat the space comfortably.

1. Measure the room volume (width x length x height) in metres
2. Divide the result by 14.

Bear in mind, the calculation is a guide only – it doesn’t account for things like:

• Insulation quality
• The number of external walls or windows
• Underfloor heating or radiators

An annual sweep isn’t just good practice, it’s essential for safety, efficiency and longevity. Even a small build-up of soot or tar can restrict airflow and increase the risk of chimney fire.

Top tip: Most manufacturers require a yearly sweep to keep your warranty valid. You can book one directly through us here.
